a bench for four. there are five of them. they keep trying.

the page plays one attempt at a time, drawn and animated in svg. the setup is always the same: four of them sit down, and the smallest one is left over. each visit shows an ending you haven't seen yet.

## endings

- four of them take the bench. the smallest one walks under it and sits on the floor between their feet
- the tall one pushes the row from the end until it jams and the round one pops out of the middle
- the triangle sits on its point to fit the gap, wobbles, and ends up leaning on the smallest one
- the tall one lifts the smallest one onto the square's head, the only flat seat left
- the bench is long this time. they spread out, then shuffle back into one tight row anyway
- the round one dozes off at the end of the bench and rolls off in its sleep. the smallest one ducks under it and takes the seat
- the tall one and the smallest one both want the last seat. they stare each other down. the smallest one blinks first
- the tall one sits on the floor instead. it's so tall its head lines up with everyone else's
- the bench is tiny this time. it fits only the smallest one. everyone else stands around it
- the smallest one can't sit, so one by one the others get up and stand with it. the bench stays empty
- the square gives the smallest one its seat, then the round one gives the square its seat. someone is always left standing
- the tall one lies down on the floor and the smallest one sits on it. nobody notices the empty seat on the bench
- the round one sits on the floor and the smallest one sits on top of it, rocking. the free seat stays free
- the triangle sits down hard and the round one bounces off the end. the smallest one climbs over it into the gap
- the smallest one leaves, comes back pushing a box, and sits on it next to the bench
